Steckly Finishes Fifth at Vancouver Indy

Vancouver, B.C. The Erb Group/ Thermo King/ AW Millwrights Race team started its 2- race western road trip on a high note on Saturday, July 24th as driver Scott Steckly, from Milverton, Ontario captured fifth place in the Canadian Tire 100 at the Vancouver Molson Indy. Friday, July 23rd marked the first of two provisional qualifying sessions with Scott posting a time off 1:24.231 which was good for sixth spot on the starting grid. On the second day of provisional qualifying the Erb Group Pontiac was unable to move up a starting position and as a result they remained in sixth.

The Erb Group Grand Prix handled well for Steckly all race as he managed to move into fifth place early in the race, as Steckly made a pass on the #09 car of Trevor Siebert. Part way through the 35- lap race the team received a bit of a scare as the car brushed the wall exiting a turn, but no damage was done to the car as a result of the incident. Towards the end of the race, with Steckly still in fifth place he managed to put a little pressure on the third and fourth place cars Kerry Micks and Peter Gibbons but was unable to make a pass as the checkered flag fell. Following the race Steckly said "We had a good car all weekend, and it's good to get another top-5 finish, and gain a few more points on the leaders in the points standings". With this fifth place finish the #22 Racing team gained a position in the points standing, moving into eighth place with 931 points.

In the drive for the 2004 CASCAR Super Series Championship, Scott Steckly and 22 Racing are supported by: The Erb Group of Companies, Thermo King of Eastern Canada, AW Millwrights, Jutzi Fuels, CPL Systems, Mr. Transmission (Guelph), Commercial Babcock, TB Woods, Stratford Motor Products, Classy Collectables, PCL Graphics, Duplicolour, Guyons Performance, Filtakleen, and Holloway Automotive.
