Steckly Works His Way To Front After Early Incident
The Erb Group Dodge Charger driven by Scott Steckly went to Trois-Rivières, PQ this past weekend for the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres. After posting the sixth fastest time in practice, Steckly followed that up with the fifth fastest time in Saturday’s qualifying. The race went on Sunday at the 1.53 mile road course.
On the first lap of the race Scott was able to pass two cars and move himself into third place. He would remain in third for the next 20 laps until an overly aggressive move by #88 Robin Buck spun both Steckly and #84 JR Fitzpatrick. That incident put Scott back into the 20th place. From that point on Steckly continually made his way back to the front, however the yellow flag came out to many times, which slowed the Erb Group Dodge Charger’s pace down. After passing two cars on the final lap of the race, Steckly managed to finish out the race in eighth place.
Steckly was upset at the conclusion of the race saying “I just don’t know what we need to do to get a good finish, we have had top-five cars all year and something always seems to go wrong. I’m looking forward to finishing the last four races on oval tracks”.
The next race in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule is next Saturday September 1 at Cayuga Speedway in Nelles Corner’s, ON.
In the drive for the 2007 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Championship, Scott Steckly currently sits in 10th place.
