Steckly Prepares for Season Opening Race this Weekend

Milverton, ON.  The 22 Racing team and driver Scott Steckly of Milverton, ON is excited to get the start of the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season underway this weekend at Cayuga Speedway. The team has worked hard this off season to improve its cars and engines to make this campaign yet another successful one for the #22 team. They are ready to build off of last years successes. Steckly won the season ending race at Kawartha Speedway, to go along with a second place finish in Sun Valley Speedway and a fifth place finish at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which featured the NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers. Those finishes helped the team finish in the top-10 in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series championship standings. According to Scott, he is “confident we can compete for some wins again this year and if everything falls in place, maybe even a championship”.

Scott Steckly has been racing in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series/ CASCAR Super Series since 1999. During his nine years in Canada’s top racing series he has posted race wins in each of the last two years, to go along with 27 top-five finishes and has finished in the top-10 in the championship standings during of his 5 seasons. He was also the 1999 CASCAR Eastern Rookie of the Year.

The first race of the season goes this Saturday, May 24 at Cayuga Speedway, outside of Hamilton. The gates open at noon and the 200 lap race begins at 7:30.

The 22 Racing team also has opportunities for major sponsorship of its race car, to help them compete better in the NASCAR Canadian Tires Series. Scott said “I am very excited about this coming season, we have new engines, a new road course car and the team is ready to go. We could use additional sponsorship help in any form or manner.
