Top-Five Finish for Steckly in Montreal

Montreal, QC. Scott Steckly and the Erb Group race team took to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this past weekend for the sixth race of the NASCAR Canadian Series schedule. This race was part of the NASCAR Busch Series debut in Canada at the famous Montreal road course. Despite only getting 5 laps of qualifying, Steckly managed to post to eighth fastest time during the 20 minute qualifying period.
Scott dropped a couple positions early in the race, before settling into 10th place. From the time the second caution period took place at lap 12, Scott was passing cars one at a time, working towards a top-five finish. Steckly was battling with Don Thomson Jr. for much of the final five laps, and on lap 22 he was finally able to get by the car driven by Thomson with a pass entering turn 12. By that time the rest of the leaders were too far ahead of Scott and he rode out the remaining lap on his way to his second top-five finish of the year. With the finish Steckly moved to within 34 points of eighth place Dave Whitlock in the championship standings.
Scott was happy with his finish saying “despite not getting much qualifying time, we were able to get around the track pretty quickly and end up with a solid finish”.
The next race in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series is this Saturday at Mosport Raceway in Bowmanville, ON.
