Erb Group Pontiac Posts Good Finish at Molson Indy

Toronto, ON. Coming off their worst finish of the season Scott Steckly and the rest of the Erb Group/ Thermo King/ AW Millwrights was looking for a bit of redemption at the Molson Indy Toronto temporary street circuit this weekend. Steckly was looking to continue his previous success that he had established in Toronto during past races. On Friday, the race team got off to a good start for the weekend when they ended up being the fastest car in practice, and the team followed that up by qualifying in 5th place with a time of 1:19.148 around the challenging 10-turn, 2.7 mile street circuit.

Steckly started the race off on a good note as he stayed right with the leaders for the first 11 laps until the car became a bit loose and as a result he got passed by the #60 of Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the #39 driven by Dave Whitlock. Dropping Steckly back into 7th position. But a problem with the #1 car of Peter Gibbons, resulted in Steckly gaining a position, moving into sixth which is where he went on to finish. The race took only 49 minutes to run and there were no full course yellow flags. The top- three finishers were: #23 Jeff Lapcevich, #4 Don Thomson Jr., #17 D.J. Kennington. Following the race the Steckly said "It was a good race weekend for our team both in qualifying and during the race, we knew we had to have a good showing here to keep our championship hopes alive, as we sort of fell out of the running after our poor showing last week at Cayuga".

In the drive for the 2004 CASCAR Super Series Championship, Scott Steckly and 22 Racing are supported by: The Erb Group of Companies, Thermo King of Eastern Canada, AW Millwrights, Jutzi Fuels, CPL Systems, Mr. Transmission (Guelph), Commercial Babcock, TB Woods, Stratford Motor Products, Classy Collectables, PCL Graphics, Duplicolour, Guyons Performance, Filtakleen, and Holloway Automotive.

The next race in the CASCAR Super Series is Saturday July 24 for the Vancouver Molson Indy. For more information contact kyle_erb@sympatico.ca.
