Steckly Recovers for Twelfth in Edmonton

Scott Steckly and the Erb Group #22 CASCAR Super Series racing team wrapped up their west coast road trip, racing on the road course in Edmonton for the Grand Prix of Edmonton. The #22 race team added an additional sponsor for this past weekend’s race as Diamond International Trucks of Edmonton came on board Steckly’s race car. The Erb Group Dodge came into the race in second place in the CASCAR point’s standings. The team had another solid qualifying effort as Steckly posted the seventh fast time for last Saturday’s race.

The #22 Dodge Charger got off to a quick start during the race on Saturday. Scott passed western series driver Kevin Dowler in turn 1 of the first lap and also gained another position when Don Thomson Jr. had to pit because of a flat tire. However, on this day Steckly would be forced to come from the back of the field. Following a caution on lap 4, Scott was involved in a spin which also collected several other cars. There was very little damage to the #22 Erb Group machine, as the bumper had a bit of a crack in it. Steckly found himself at the back of the field in 37 th place. Over the next 25 laps Scott passed 25 cars to make it back up to 12 th. With 3 laps left in the race he was trying to pass #19 Brad Graham but was unable to complete the pass. After the race Steckly said “I was disappointed that we involved in that incident early in the race, but we recovered for a decent finish”.

The next race in the CASCAR Super Series is August 6 for the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres. The next race in Ontario is August 12 at Mosport Raceway in Bowmanville.
